Public and patient involvement opportunities

Here are details of a couple of great opportunities for patients and the public in the East Midlands and East of England to get involved and help shape decisions about genomics in our region.

Citizen's Jury on use of DNA (genomic) data in health research

Members of the public are invited to apply to join a Citizen's Jury - taking place in Leicester on Wednesday 11 March (10am-4pm) - to help shape decisions about how DNA (genomic) data is used in research.

This is part of a wider public engagement project led by the East of England Secure Data Environment, Health Innovation East, Healthwatch Leicester and Healthwatch Leicestershire and Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL).

You can express interest in joining the Citizens' Jury, and find out more here (opens in a new tab).

New Genomics Health Hub - survey open to get public views

NHS North Thames Genomic Medicine Service and the NHS Race & Health Observatory are working with communities to develop a new Genomics Health Hub, which will make information about genomics and health clearer, fairer, and easier to access, so that communities can have the opportunity to benefit from advances in genomic healthcare.

Members of the public are invited to take a short survey on their thoughts on different explanations of genomics and genetics. No prior knowledge of genomics is needed, and all responses will help shape the final design of the Hub. You can take the survey here (opens in a new tab).
