This leaflet is intended for patients being offered a genetic test to look for inherited changes (variants) in a group of genes that may explain why they have developed a Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumour (GIST).
This testing is offered to people found to have a GIST before the age of 50, or because other family members have also had a GIST or related growth.
